GMB provided architectural and engineering design services for a new, approximately 24,000 SF, single-story Community Health Center located on a 10.69-acre site in Federalsburg, Maryland. The new facility includes exam rooms for multiple medical and dental providers, in addition to administrative offices, reception and waiting spaces, work-up and sterilization rooms, exterior drive-through canopies, and related staff and support areas. A new feature to the Choptank Community Healthcare facilities was the integration of dedicated medical and dental resident support spaces for training nurses and providers into their practice.

The site design includes Hargraves Road extension and connector, parking lot, and stormwater management practices including landscaped infiltration basins (5) meeting Maryland MDE Environmental Site Design (ESD) criteria.

This project was adapted from the Choptank Community Health Systems, Inc., facility model, adjusting its appearance to be rooted in Federalsburg’s civic legacy, agrarian spirit, and industrial contributions. GMB provided design services for the new building and site including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding and negotiation assistance, and construction administration.

Town of St. Michaels, MD

In 2020, GMB completed a DNR funded Harbor and Stormwater Infrastructure Study for the Town of St Michaels. This valuable study projected the flooding and sea level rise by 2050 and then identified at risk areas and associated mitigation strategies for our main harbor and adjacent infrastructure. This was the valuable foundation the Town Commissioners needed for their planning and developed community awareness and support. Building on this study, the Town of St Michaels created the Climate Change/ Sea Level Rise Commission to pursue grants to implement these mitigation plans. Thanks to GMB’s study, the Town has been successful in pursuing grant funding.
