City of Salisbury Celebrates Potable Water Storage Tank Ribbon-Cutting

On March 13, 2012, GMB joined the City of Salisbury to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of a new Potable Water Storage Tank at the Paleo Water Treatment Plant. GMB provided engineering design and construction administration services for a new 1,000,000 gallon ground level storage tank for treated water, in combination with significant pump upgrades and electrical improvements.
The new pumps and electrical improvements allow the plant to provide more water at a higher pressure to the distribution system. The pumps are controlled by Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), so that operators are better equipped to match pumping rates and pressure during periods of low demand to provide more consistent pressure. The increased pump capacity allows distribution system pressure to be increased to accommodate the water towers planned in the near future.
This project was made possible through a $2,071,600 grant from Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), using funds allocated by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 and a $300,000 FY 2010 Water Supply Financial Assistance Grant from MDE.
