Ben Hearn began interning with GMB in 2014 and joined our full-time staff upon his 2016 graduation from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Ben was promoted to Associate in 2023 and selected as a Vice President in 2025. As a Sr. Project Manager in our Seaford and Lewes offices, Ben’s primary focus is on municipal engineering, with experience in projects such as asset management, I/I analysis, wastewater collection and transmission facilities, water main distribution systems, street improvements, and site development. His main clients include the Cities of Seaford and Lewes, Delaware, and he has also served public and private clients throughout Sussex County and in some parts of Maryland.
Ben was heavily involved in the Lewes Water Main Canal Replacement project, a critical improvement that increased redundancy and capacity for the Lewes BPW’s beachside water system. The project won a 2026 Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Delaware.
Ben is actively involved in his community. He currently serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Lewes Fire Department and has dedicated more than a decade to fire service in Delaware. A native of Seaford, Ben began his public service career in 2011 with the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, where he later served as Vice President from 2017 to 2020.
Ben was honored with two major industry recognitions in 2026, receiving the National Society of Professional Engineers–Delaware (NSPE-DE) Young Engineer of the Year Award and the Zweig Group Rising Star Award. These accolades reflect his leadership, technical excellence, and growing impact on the engineering profession.
