    GMB Announces New Owners

James H. Willey, Jr., P.E., Managing Member of George, Miles & Buhr, LLC (GMB), is pleased to announce the following promotions.  Chris B. Derbyshire, P.E., Katherine J. McAllister, P.E., W. Mark Gardocky, P.E., and Morgan H. Helfrich, AIA, LEED AP were promoted to Vice President and welcomed as new owners.

Christopher B. Derbyshire, P.E. has served GMB for 14 years and is a Sr. Project Manager in the Salisbury Water/Wastewater Group. In his tenure with GMB, he has been responsible for overseeing both design and construction of seven (7) different BNR/ENR upgrades for local municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP). Currently Chris is working on the construction phase services for the Fruitland WWTP and design/construction projects for various sewage pumping stations throughout the area. Chris is highly regarded as an expert in the region, as evidenced by Rob Kershner, founder of Kershner Environmental Technologies, LLC, who states, “Chris is truly an acknowledged water/wastewater expert in the (mid-Atlantic) area. He is a great asset to GMB.” Chris is a member of the Fruitland Lions Club and actively participates on several committees at the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fruitland.

Katherine J. McAllister, P.E. joined GMB’s Water/Wastewater group in 2005. As a Sr. Project Manager in the Salisbury office, she has extensive knowledge of municipal public works, funding agency requirements, rate structures and grant writing, as well as strong technical skills.  She chairs GMB Scholarship activities, coordinates data collection with the Wicomico Creekwatchers’ group, and participates with the Sunrise Rotary Club on behalf of GMB.  Last year, Katherine was featured in Water & Wastes Digest magazine in a special section highlighting young water professionals as “Ones to Watch”.  Katherine is currently managing the team implementing a $6 million project to bring safe drinking water to residents of Wicomico County with deteriorating wells.

Mark Gardocky, P.E. has been with GMB’s Sparks office for 21 years and is a registered professional engineer in Maryland and Pennsylvania. He is currently Sr. Project Manager on projects for the City of Baltimore, Howard County, and Carroll County, including City of Baltimore Sanitary Contract No. 908. This project is nearing construction completion and is one of a number of projects implemented to address Baltimore’s sanitary sewer overflows.

Morgan H. Helfrich, AIA, LEED AP, joined GMB in 2006 and serves as the Architectural Group Leader.  A registered architect in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia, she has designed public and private buildings throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.  Recently, construction was completed on her design of the new EMS facility for the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services.  In addition, her design for the Millville Town Hall Addition will soon initiate construction.  She currently serves as the lead architect for the Perdue AgriBusiness new corporate office building to be located in Delmar, Delaware.  Morgan participates on the Architectural Engineering Technology (AET) Advisory Committee for Delaware Technical Community College and the ACE Mentoring Program for Wicomico County Schools.

GMB congratulates these employees and appreciates their dedication to the firm.
