GMB prepared the Preliminary Engineering Report for the Northeast Interceptor Sewer in September 1999. The report outlined the service area for the Northeast Interceptor sewer and developed flow projections. As a result of the report, GMB designed the main pumping station and force main for the Northeast Interceptor sewer.
The work consisted of installation of a wastewater collection system including approximately 2,800 linear feet of 10” gravity collection sewers and sewage force main pipeline, a 590 linear foot direction drill of 16” force main and one (1) duplex submersible type wastewater pump stations with equipment building, comminutors, site work and appurtenances. The force main was directionally drilled under Route 13 and the Norfolk-Southern railroad. The wet well is 8’ by 10’ cast in place concrete. There are two in-channel comminutors and a bar screen overflow channel. The submersible pumps are rated for 500 gallons per minute. At ultimate build out of the service area, the pump station has a design capacity of 480,000 gallons per day.
The pump station is located on Cedar Lane and Route 13 in Fruitland. The construction was completed in 2001 by American Paving of Salisbury, Maryland. The contract amount was $575,978.50. The construction duration was 150 calendar days.
