Mr. Burnsworth joined the firm in December of 1991. He is the Division Leader of Water/Wastewater in the Baltimore office. He has more than fourteen years experience as a civil engineering consultant in the State of Maryland. His responsibilities include planning, managing, designing, and constructing water and wastewater treatment facilities for local, state and other municipal authorities. Mr. Burnsworth has a thorough working knowledge of wastewater treatment process technology including Enhanced Nutrient Reduction (ENR) and biological nutrient removal (BNR). In his fourteen years with GMB, Mr. Burnsworth has designed and directly managed the construction of eight major ENR/BNR projects. In addition, he has been involved on various levels with at least twenty other BNR/ENR projects ranging from preliminary design reports, capacity analyses, treatment process alternative development and cost analyses. Mr. Burnsworth’s knowledge of spreadsheet software is used extensively in the design of treatment processes including computer modeling and mass balances. Prior to his experience as an engineering consultant and process designer, John has had more than 10 years experience in the construction industry. His hands-on experience and knowledge of construction management provide important insight, especially when upgrading existing plants and designing tie-ins to existing facilities. In addition to managing treatment facility designs, Mr. Burnsworth has overseen several pilot test projects.
Mr. Burnsworth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. He holds professional registrations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
