GMB is pleased to welcome Scott Getchell as Director of Operational Services. Formerly Public Works Director for the Town of Denton, Mr. Getchell will lead a new service sector within the firm’s Water / Wastewater Engineering Group, focusing on the operations and maintenance of municipal projects. His duties will include assisting with capital improvement budgets, as well as USDA, MDE and CDBG grant and loan applications. He will guide the operation, maintenance, and optimization of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities as well as collection/distribution systems, and provide on-site or remote technical assistance to water and wastewater plant operators.
Mr. Getchell’s career focus for the past 28 years has been the public works industry, including performing as Denton’s Director of Public Works & Utilities for the past 14 years. Prior work experience includes the Queen Anne’s Co. Sanitary District as a Utility Technician and the Maryland Environmental Service as an Environmental Systems Supervisor. Since 2007, Mr. Getchell has been actively involved with the Maryland Center for Environmental Training (MCET) providing technical assistance with planning, design, construction, startup, and operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout MD. As part of MCET, Mr. Getchell instructed MDE approved classroom training for operators in six local states.
Mr. Getchell is certified as MD Water Treatment Operator/Superintendent Class 1; MD Wastewater Treatment Operator/Superintendent Classes 1, 5, A; MD Sediment and Erosion Control; and MD Roadside Tree Care Expert. Awards include MRWA 2001 Wastewater Operator of the Year and USEPA 2005 Operations Excellence Award.
