George, Miles and Buhr, LLC (GMB) performed an engineering study and prepared a Value Engineering Report for the upgrade of regional pump station PS #30 located in the Fenwick Island, Delaware.
The objective of the project was a “nuts & bolts” value engineering review of the plans and specifications in order to identify potential cost savings for the mutual benefit of all parties, without sacrifice to quality or value. GMB brought an outside professional perspective that uncovered opportunities for cost savings. The estimated cost for the pump station replacement was $6 million.
The study cost was $23,000 and evaluated twenty six (26) separate proposals for value engineering savings. Eighteen (18) separate proposals were specifically recommended representing a total of $406,600 in value engineering savings. The areas of saving included civil, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical items.
