George, Miles & Buhr, LLC (GMB) provided engineering services to complete a feasibility report, evaluation, design, contract plans and specifications, permitting and construction administration / inspection for the Town of New Windsor’s existing 250,000 gallon water storage tank located on Rowe Road.
GMB was responsible for preparation of an evaluation and feasibility report to determine the necessity of retaining the existing standpipe in service and evaluated the feasibility of rehabilitating the existing tank or replacing it with a new elevated storage tank. We also developed a method to isolate the standpipe (i.e. low pressure zone) from the elevated tank (i.e. high pressure zone) during construction.
There were three (3) cellular carriers with antennas and cables attached to the standpipe. As part of the refurbishment project, GMB coordinated the refurbishment project with the requirements of appropriate cellular service companies. GMB also assisted the Town with bidding the project and acquiring funding through the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan program.
